FERN WEIRICH

Fern was born in 1948 in Luxembourg, Europe, and is currently living in Germany. Though drawing since his childhood, he only started publishing at the age of forty.

His artistic career started with the second edition of the International Comic Festival of Contern in ´98, when he was contacted to join the team of a weekly newspaper.

There Fern published cartoons and caricatures and later joined also the team of a daily paper from the same group. While working for those papers he additionally published eight cartoon-books and one comic-book.

In 2006 he gave up the job as a cartoonist and started a second career as an illustrator and comic-artist. Meanwhile he´d published twelve artwork- and comic books with German and French editors.

He performs in two different styles, one more funny and based on the traditional franco-belgian caricature, the other is based on the old-school American Style, rather dark and mostly explicit. He draws only in black and white.

Fern Weirich nasceu em 1948, em Luxemburgo, Europa, e ele está vivendo atualmente na Alemanha. Embora desenhe desde a sua infância, ele começou a publicar somente à idade de 40 anos.

A sua carreira artística iniciou com a segunda edição do International Comic Festival of Contern, Luxemburgo, em 1998, quando ele foi contatado para juntar-se à equipe de um jornal semanal.

Ali, Fern publicou cartuns e caricaturas e, posteriormente, ele integrou também a equipe de um jornal diário do mesmo grupo. Enquanto ele trabalhava para esses jornais, ele também publicou oito livros de cartuns e uma história em quadrinhos.

Em 2006, ele desistiu do trabalho de cartunista e ele iniciou uma segunda carreira como ilustrador e quadrinista. Enquanto isso, ele publicou doze ilustrações e histórias em quadrinhos com editores alemães e franceses.

Ele atua em dois estilos diferentes, um mais cômico e baseado na tradicional caricatura franco-belga, o outro é baseado no estilo americano da velha escola, bastante sombrio e principalmente explícito. Ele desenha apenas em preto e branco.
